The ALIVE project was aimed at breaking down the barriers that prevent people from participating in regular active recreation. We did this by consulting with specific target groups to identify barriers, then worked closely to create relevant programmes that provided opportunities for ongoing participation. We also facilitated a series of “have-a-go” programmes, highlighting the huge range of recreation opportunities available in Upper Hutt and beyond.
These programmes were designed to be low to no cost and aim to provide positive pathways for people to lead healthier lives. The benefits were endless – the opportunity to meet new people, try new activities, connect with different sports clubs within the community, or be supported to start their own group.
After three years of research and working with the Upper Hutt community, Activation is excited to share our findings in the ALIVE & WELL Resource. You can download a copy of the resource below.
