Ellie joined the Activation team in May 2013. She comes from a primary teaching background, majoring in physical education, and has teaching experience in England and New Zealand. Ellie has worked in at a Regional Sports Trust for 6 years, before departing to start a family. She has been involved in sport and recreation throughout her whole life, playing football as her main sport. Ellie has spent ten years involved in child development – and has worked with mothers groups, community groups, childcare centres, teachers, tertiary institutions and presented overseas in this area. Ellie brings to the Activation team experience in working in the education and sport sector. She enjoys working within the community and supporting schools and clubs to meet their needs.

Chris joined the Activation team in June 2014 and comes from a sports and recreation background, previously working as a Physical Training Instructor in the Royal New Zealand Air Force and as a secondary school Sports Coordinator. He has a passion for all sports and fitness and has represented New Zealand at youth level in football and is currently the captain of Upper Hutt City Football’s Central League team. Chris was raised in Upper Hutt and is excited about using his skills and experience to create new, exciting initiatives to get more people of Upper Hutt more active more often.

Dave is our Recreation Advisor – Clubs and Schools. Dave grew up in the Hutt Valley and now lives in Silverstream. Prior to joining the Activation team, Dave taught at Wellington College for 13 years and then went into Rugby Coaching and Development full time, completing a Post Grad in Sports Management at Massey University and an international IRB Coach Educator qualification. During this time Dave spent some time in Wales (where his family originates from) coaching rugby and then returned to Wellington to work with Wellington Rugby for the past 13 years coordinating and running their player and coach development programs and managing their development staff.

Angie has recently joined the Activation team as the ALIVE Project Co-ordinator. Raised in Te Marua, she comes from an outdoor recreation background, and is an experienced outdoor instructor, facilitator and project co-ordinator, specialising in Challenge Ropes Course instruction and personal/team development. Angie worked for a number of years with GWRC in their Parks and Forests department co-ordinating and delivering community events including summer programmes and plantings. Angie worked as a sports co-ordinator for Wellington High School and has played football at Central League level for Upper Hutt and represented Wellington in cricket. Angie is looking forward running the ALIVE programme for UHCC in conjunction with Sport New Zealand. ALIVE endeavours to remove the barriers that prevent many people participating in active leisure pursuits by creating a range of 8 – 12 week programmes tailored to individual user groups, and supporting their journey to creating the changes needed to lead healthier, more active lifestyles.
